Two Road’s Brewing Co.’s Worker’s Comp Farmhouse Ale has been named one of the Top 70 Best Saisons, Blind-Tasted and Ranked by Craft Beer & Brewing, landing in the #10 spot.
Workers Comp is a 4.8% complex, yet distinctive style that offers an intense fruit notes of passion fruit, pineapple, mango, lychee with subtle spices of clove and white pepper.
The judging panel for the beer industry publication said of the saison, “Beautiful pepper spice on the nose, lightly floral, citrus. Effervescent. Low woody hop flavors. Grainy malt with a dry finish, note of caramel, some husky astringency. Subdued fermentation character (bubblegum and hay) adds complexity. Light, crisp body. Tasty, refreshing version of the style; tart without being sour.”
It’s come to no surprise to any of us here at Two Roads that our Worker’s Comp broke the top 10 best saisons, our Master Brewer, Phil Markowski, literally wrote the book on the style in his critically acclaimed and industry must-have “Farmhouse Ales: Culture and Craftsmanship in the Belgian Tradition.”
When developing Worker’s Comp, Markowski wanted a recipe that mirrored the ales brewed on the farms of the Old World. As described in his Craft Beer & Brewing 2014 interview, “Worker’s Comp combines barley, wheat, rye, oats and spelt in a session-strength, but complex, recipe. It’s a farmhouse brew that’s miles away from classic benchmark beers.”
Worker’s Comp is available on draft as well as in 12oz six-pack cans and bottles. To see where you can purchase Worker’s Comp in your area you can access our Beer Finder.
