Best beer AND best brewery in the state of Connecticut? We’ll cheers to that! Readers took to the polls and out of all the breweries across the Nutmeg State, Two Roads was named the best brewery as well as our Two Juicy Hazy Juicy IPA took the top spot for best beer in Connecticut Magazine’s 2020 Best Of list.
“The state’s largest brewery continues to impress with its diverse lineup of beers and show stopping visitor experience. In 2019 the brewery opened a second brewing facility called Area Two that is across the parking lot from the original Two Roads and specializes in sour and barrel-aged beers. Both brewing “areas” have ample indoor and outdoor seating and together they form a brewing campus that is a must-visit for any state beer fan,” the magazine states.

As for our best brew, Two Juicy Hazy Juicy IPA, the 8.2% juice bomb is brewed with Hallertauer Blanc, Citra and Mandarina Bavaria hops. This charged up DIPA offers up notes of grapefruit, pine, lychee, orange & tangerine against a soft malt backdrop in every sip.
“Two Juicy is a repeat winner from a brewery that holds the same distinction. It’s cloudy in appearance, hence “unfiltered,” but the supreme taste is clear as day. The New England-style IPAs and their high ABVs have been trendy for a few years now, but some trends can become the standard…we’ll just say it’s the best,” according to the magazine.
Since its launch, Two Juicy has received a 92-rating from Beer Connoisseur, a 93-rating from Wine Enthusiast and Beer Advocate, and a 98-rating from Craft Beer and Brewing. It’s also been voted the #5 Best Hazy by Beer Connoisseur in 2019 and one of the Top 25 beers of 2018 by Beer Advocate.
Two Juicy isn’t the only hazy, juicy brew offered at Two Roads. Two Juicy’s lil’ sister, Lil’ Juicy is double dry hopped New England IPA that uses generous amounts of galaxy, citra and azacca hops. The result is a “crushable” IPA with notes of tropical juicy fruits, orange, lemon-lime and florals.
The latest to join the hazy, juicy line is Cloud Sourced, a 6.5% hazy, juicy IPA that has an intense, citrus juiciness balanced with a soft malt core that “puts you on Cloud Nine!” Cloud Sourced is brewed with Cascade, Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe, Chinook, Citra hops.
